How To Make Homemade Citrus Cleaner

How To Make Homemade Citrus Cleaner

Homemade multipurpose citrus-infused cleaners are all the rage when it comes to a low waste and toxic-free home. It’s a great way to use up all your citrus peel and very budget-friendly.

It’s simple, it’s easy, and it totally works.

 What you need

  • Jar or Container (I like to use a repurposed glass jar)
  • Citrus peel or any kind, Lemons, Orange or Lime
  • White Vinegar
  • Essential oils (optional)
  • Spray bottle

Instructions

Step 1

First things first, collect all your lemons, orange and/or lime skins in a container. I keep mine in the freezer until they are full or a few weeks before I’m about to run out of my current cleaner.

Defrost these before step 2 if you are keeping them in the freezer.

Step 2

Using the same glass jar I stored the citrus skins in, add

  • ⅔ with the vinegar
  • ⅓ with water
  • few drops of essential oil (optional)

Step 3

Screw the lid on tight and let it sit for 2 weeks. The vinegar will turn a yellow or orange colour. Depending on what skins you have used.

Step 4

After the 2 weeks are up, strain the mixture and fill your spray bottle

  • ½ citrus/vinegar liquid
  • ¼ white vinegar
  • ¼ water

And your good to go.

Repurpose any spray bottle you have at home or check out our amber glass spray bottles here.
